Senior Project Manager
Kevala is looking for a Senior Project Manager with strong energy experience across thespectrum of policy, data, engineering, regulatory, and utility operations. Kevala’s projects range from small projects with short turnaround times to larger multi-year contracts with many moving pieces.
Work duties include the development and management of project scopes of work and work plans, active client engagement, translating client needs to internal analytics and platform staff, preparing for and leading client-facing meetings, conducting research and analysis, and spearheading the delivery of our work to clients.
The successful candidate will have experience in science, math, and/or engineering and be capable of explaining and planning complex, technical grid planning work (e.g., distribution and transmission grid modeling, hosting capacity analysis, DER interconnection, grid infrastructure upgrades design, and/or non-wires alternatives) to both technical and non- technical client audiences.
What you will be doing
- Based on your deep understanding of Kevala’s platform and analytic capabilities, working in the sales cycle to understand client objectives and assist in crafting tailored messaging.
- Supporting business development through meaningful customer engagement and translating client needs into internal development requirements and deliverables.
- Translating deliverables into internal schedules, requirements, and budgets, while developing and maintaining dependency maps, risk registers, RACI matrices, decision logs, and other key Project Management tools.
- Supporting the design and development of client-ready written reports and presentations that provide appropriate background, methodological approach, and technical analysis results in the context of the specific client objectives and/or policy framework.
- Working with internal professional & advisory, analytics, data science, and engineering teams to establish “key takeaways” from Kevala’s work in the context of client-specific expectations.
- Training and supporting internal teams with subject matter expertise and on project communication approaches.
- Supporting the team’s operations and growth goals by identifying and addressing needs/gaps (for example, identifying business development opportunities, and/or team growth areas).
- Leading continued standard procedure/process improvements for the entire project lifecycle across the organization, enabling transparency and consistency across project and product delivery.
What you need to succeed
- 5+ years project management experience.
- Meaningful experience in the energy industry, including familiarity of utility business models and regulation.
- The ability to break down complicated tasks into discrete deliverables and manage inputs from a variety of sources.
- Superb listening skills, including the ability to translate a stated business need into an actionable Kevala scope of work.
- A demonstrated willingness to dig into the nitty-gritty details when circumstances demand it.
- Excellent writing, analysis, and presentation skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
What will make you stand out
- Experience in tech, data, and/or building and supporting a SaaS product.
- Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or related technical degree.
- Experience with data science techniques.
- Experience with project management tools in the Atlassian suite (e.g., Jira, Confluence), Microsoft Office (Power Point, Excel, Project), and/or Miro.
$125,000 - $160,000
This is a fully remote role which can be located anywhere within the United States. Please note, actual salaries may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, education, experience, and location.
