Data Engineer II
Kevala is looking for a self-motivated Data Engineer to support the development of scalable and efficient data pipelines. This role involves working with established processes, cloud data warehouses, and data modeling, ensuring high data quality and availability. The ideal candidate is experienced in Python, BigQuery, and modern data tools like dbt and Airflow. Familiarity with electric utility data and distribution infrastructure is a plus.
What you will be doing
- Develop and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using tools like dbt and Airflow.
- Design and implement data models to support project and product needs.
- Optimize query performance and improve data pipeline efficiency.
- Assist in integrating third-party data sources via APIs and cloud services.
- Work closely with data analysts, scientists, and engineers to ensure data accessibility and reliability.
- Implement data validation, monitoring, and logging to maintain data quality.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand data requirements and improve data infrastructure.
What you need to succeed
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 3+ years of experience in data engineering or a related field.
- Proficiency in Python, Airflow, dbt, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and BigQuery.
- Experience in data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, and workflow orchestration.
- Understanding of data governance and best practices for data security.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a collaborative environment and effectively communicate technical concepts.
The total compensation for this opportunity includes a base salary range of $120,000 - $155,000 plus equity (stock options). This is our target compensation range and is subject to multiple factors including level, experience, and location. As you go through our interview process, our recruiter will work with you to identify a competitive base salary within the proposed range and combine it with an equity package that will support your excitement in joining Kevala.
This is a fully remote role which can be located anywhere within the United States. Please note, actual salaries may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, education, experience, and location.
