Statement of Principles for Business and Human Rights

Kevala (the Company) operates on principles that embody integrity and respect for human rights.

Integrity and Code of Ethics

We believe in the importance of follow-through and honoring our commitments to both our clients, our climate, and each other. Integrity is at the heart of what we do, and it’s what drives our ability to partner with, collaborate, and excel by providing meaningful data and insights to ​​decision makers who are at the forefront of decarbonization.

The Company and its employees do business with integrity, ethical conduct in all activities, and in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. We expect our suppliers to do the same.

The Company strives to provide the quality of its services, products, and operations by maintaining a reputation for honesty, fairness, respect, responsibility, integrity, trust, and sound business judgment. Our employees are expected to adhere to high standards of business and personal integrity as a representation of the Company’s business practices.

Human Rights

The Company supports, protects, and promotes internationally recognized human rights – understood, at a minimum, as those expressed international standards, including the United Nations’ Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, the International Labour Organization’s (ILO) Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work, and the United Nations’ Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

This respect of human rights is embodied through our operations, our commitment to the advancement of diversity and inclusion efforts across all employment activities, in addition to our dedication and enforcement of safe and appropriate working conditions. Our policies comply with health and safety management system international standards (e.g., ISO 45001 or equivalent).  

The Company seeks to establish and maintain relationships with entities that uphold our principles and values. Our responsibility to respect human rights extends into our supply chains and partnerships. This Human Rights Statement builds on our employee Code of Ethics (described above). Human rights violations by a supplier or partner will be addressed by our company with the goal of adopting corrective measures. In cases where corrective measures are not taken, the company reserves the right to discontinue or reconsider the respective commercial relationship.

Workforce

The Company aims to establish and maintain a workplace that respects each individual and promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion. The Company recognizes that it is of utmost importance to:

  • Uphold human and workplace rights in our operations
  • Foster a safe and healthy work environment for all employees 
  • Treat employees fairly, respectfully, and without discrimination
  • Have a work environment free of violence, intimidation, and harassment
  • Respect our employees’ right to join, form, or not to join or form a labor union without fear of reprisal
  • Prohibit the use of child labor, forced labor, and any form of human trafficking
  • Comply with working hours, wages, and benefits set by local laws and regulations
  • Provide employees with equal opportunities for jobs, skill training, and promotions

Suppliers and Partners

The Company expects our suppliers, vendors, and partners to respect and uphold the human rights of all workers and contractors.
