Senior Product Manager, Grid Planning

As Senior Product Manager, Grid Planning you will be responsible for defining and executing the product strategy for one of our core customer segments: ‘Grid Managers’. This segment includes all entities that directly manage the electric grid, including utilities, independent system operators, and power purchase authorities. You will work closely with engineering, sales, and consulting teams to deliver innovative solutions that meet the evolving needs of these critical stakeholders and drive significant business value. This role requires a deep understanding of the energy industry, strong analytical skills, and a passion for building world-class software products.

What you will be doing

  • Product Strategy and Roadmap: Develop and maintain a comprehensive product strategy and roadmap for Grid Manager clients, aligned with Kevala's overall business objectives.
  • Market Analysis: Conduct market research and analysis to identify customer needs, market trends, and competitive landscape, particularly within the utility sector.
  • Go-to-Market Strategy and Execution: Develop and execute a go-to-market plan to take existing Grid Manager offerings from 1 to n, specifically developing our Integrated Grid Planning, Electrification Impacts Studies and Production Cost Modeling solutions.
  • Customer Engagement: Engage directly with Grid Managers to gather feedback, understand pain points, and validate product concepts.
  • Requirements Definition: Define and prioritize product requirements, working closely with engineering teams to ensure successful implementation.
  • Product Development: Manage the product development lifecycle, from concept to launch, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality solutions.
  • Sales Enablement: Collaborate with the sales team to develop product messaging, sales tools, and training materials that effectively communicate the value proposition of Kevala's solutions to utilities.
  • Performance Tracking: Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure product success and identify areas for improvement.
  • Collaboration: Foster strong collaboration between engineering, sales, consulting, and other internal teams to ensure alignment and drive product success.

What you need to succeed

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., engineering, computer science, business).
  • 5+ years of experience in product management, preferably within the energy or utility industry.
  • Deep understanding of utility and/or transmission operator concepts, including grid planning, operations, and market dynamics.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively engage with customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Proven track record of successfully launching and managing software products.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.

The total compensation for this opportunity includes a base salary range of $135,000 - $160,000 plus equity (stock options). This is our target compensation range and is subject to multiple factors including level, experience, and location. As you go through our interview process, our recruiter will work with you to identify a competitive base salary within the proposed range and combine it with an equity package that will support your excitement in joining Kevala.

This is a fully remote role which can be located anywhere within the United States. Please note, actual salaries may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, education, experience, and location.
